Carter Ross, Jr., 90, of Somerset, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services were conducted on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. In 1991 he retired from the Air Force only to embark on many life journeys; he worked for ESL for six years and loved it, he built barns, worked at Lowes and Home Depot in the lawn and garden department, and he was a Census Supervisor. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Daniel was a member of the Pine Knot United Baptist Church. She is survived by her parents Bill and Mary Gregory of Stearns, Kentucky, a son Cody Allen Burke (and wife Mariah), three daughters: Priscilla, Shantal and Devon Shelton, two brothers: Scottie (and Sue) Gregory of Pine Knot, Schylor Jake (and Dixie) Gregory of Revelo, Kentucky, two sisters: Savannah Jones of Whitley City and Samantha Godsey of Stearns. She was a member of Denham St. Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Ridge United Baptist Church on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Bro. Survivors include sisters Rosalee Creekmore and husband Bobby, Bonnie Stephens and husband Lewis, Lena Ball and husband Billy, Linda Carol Kidd and husband Kenneth, Wilma Dople, and Paula Martin (and Bruce Hamlin); and brother-in-law Arvis Stephens. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Rev Branscum was a pillar of this community and has officiated over 270 marriages, served as Pastor, and he was a columnist for McCreary County Record for the past 58 years.
